‘EHarmony.com Inc.’s recent decision to provide a same-sex dating service has provoked a backlash among some in the conservative Christian community, who were once the company’s most loyal supporters and reliable customers.’

eHarmony isn’t the only company alienating the Christian singles community. BigChurch.com is a Christian dating service owned by Penthouse, and ChristianMingle is owned by publicly traded Spark Networks, which also offers gay matching albeit on their other properties. Of the major players in the Chrstian online dating space, ChristianCafe.com seems to be the only true Christian-owned/operated option.

Of course, there will always be a portion of the Christian community that will continue to pay membership fees to companies who do not hold their values true to heart (because those sites are fulfilling their ’singles’ needs), but there will definitely also be those that leave in droves upon hearing the news. It may come down to how much publicity these companies get and thus how many of the evangelical Christian community become aware of what is really going on with the companies they support.
